How did NYE TriMet service go?

I stayed home and had a little party myself, but I was wondering – for those who used TriMet service last night into early this morning, how did it go?  Lots of people?  Transit on time?

New Years eve is for amateurs!

Can’t say about too late New Years Eve, but every day this week the outbound 12 bus scheduled to leave Barbur Blvd. TC failed to show up, and I’ve had a between 18 and 23 minute wait for my 12 bus (depending on what time my 94 showed up).

Today, my inbound 12 also failed to show up and I had a 27 minute wait.

Today, I spent nearly 50 minutes **WAITING** for buses that were scheduled, but didn’t show up. Never mind that had I driven to work, my total round-trip would have been 30 minutes (including traffic). And I spent that time and more, just WAITING for buses that were nowhere to be found.

I’d like to know why TriMet even bothers to advertise the 12 bus as “Frequent Service”….

I should say…scheduled to leave Barbur Blvd. TC at 5:10 PM…

    hehe,,,

If only I were more motivated, we could do a TV series based on Erik’s commute adventures!

    hehehe……….

it would be a smash hit!

Erik – I wait at a stop that services the 12, 19 and 20 lines. Right after the Burnside bridge coming out of downtown. And there were some issues with the 12-Sandy bus last week, much like what you were describing.

I’ll give my TriMet contact an email to see if they know anything about what’s going on with that line…

I operated the Blue Line on New Years Eve – came to Pioneer Square at 12:05 AM, just into the new year. I filled my train, but it was not a rowdy bunch, just happy people, many with small kids, who spend midnight at the Square.

When I parked my train in the yard at 1:20 AM, the cleaners said they had seen no “bio-hazards” so far, something that really surprised them.

I guess that is the kind of surprise they do not mind… :-)

I didn’t experience anything crazy either, and I was riding from Mississippi to Division on the “wierd bus” #4. :)

Can’t complain though. Had a decent night. Next new years though, I’m either going to New Orleans or somewhere that doesn’t shut down at 2am. It just seems absurd shutting down at 2 am on such a “social party night”. Maybe that’s my New Orleans life speaking, but regardless, that’s my plan.
