Eastside security tightened on both TriMet MAX and bus service

April 1 marked the date that six transit officers started patrolling the Eastside MAX & bus TriMet service.  Wish these were officers who could also be checking fares, but you can’t have the best of both worlds.  Though, six officers?  Not too shabby…

Trimet plans on increasing to 10 officers by the first of July.

More about this service alert can be seen on the TriMet website.

Just wanted to let you know that police officers do check fares when on TriMet, so you get the benefit of fare checks and security presence.

Hi Mary,

That’s great to hear. Though, I’ve never been checked by a police officer. Ever. And I’ve seen plenty in my years of riding.

That’s good to know though. Hopefully they can step it up a bit on the fare inspections; I’m in the camp where I’m 99.999% positive more fare inspections = more tickets purchased.
