MAX blue line disruption June 21 & 22

The MAX blue line between the Gateway Transit Center and the 102nd MAX station will not be running this weekend (June 21 & 22). Like the two weekends in April, TriMet crews will be working on the MAX green line, installing overhead wires.

Shuttles will be provided for MAX riders who wish to go between the two stations. The red line is unaffected with this interruption.

June 9 - Steel Bridge operational

Looks like a quick fix -

“The fiber optic cable on the Steel Bridge has been repaired. MAX trains are running across the bridge and MAX is expected to return to normal operations at approximately noon. Buses will continue to shuttle MAX riders between Old Town/Chinatown and Rose Quarter Transit Center stations until that time.”

Normal traffic can now use the Steel Bridge.  TriMet MAX riders will be using shuttles up until noon today when normal operations resumes.

June 9 - Steel Bridge closed to all traffic

Just saw this -

“Due to a loose wire on the Steel Bridge not related to TriMet, buses are shuttling MAX riders between Old Town/Chinatown and Rose Quarter Transit Center stations. The Steel Bridge is closed to all vehicles until the wire has been fixed. At this point there is no indication when it will be fixed.

Yikes… keep this in mind if you’re planning on taking MAX or even driving / cycling across the Steel Bridge.  I’ll update this status when I can.

MAX service interrupted morning of Sunday, May 18

Just a heads up - if anyone is planning on taking the MAX downtown on the morning of Sunday, May 18 from the beginning of MAX service til 10:00am, you should schedule some extra time. TriMet is installing new overheard wire for the Portland Mall Light Rail Project and will be shuttling riders on buses between the Rose Quarter Transit Center & PGE Park.

Again, this installation period is going on Sunday morning on the 18th of May from the beginning of service til 10 am.

*Edit 10:34 - Service is now back to its regular schedule

MAX blue line outage between Gateway and 102nd stops next two weekends

Planning on taking the MAX either this weekend (April 19 - 20) or next weekend (April 26 - 27) and between the Gateway Transit Center and the 102nd MAX stops? Well, plan on that little 3 minute trip to be a little longer… Continue reading →

TriMet Alerts on Twitter

Do you use Twitter? I do.. even though I don’t update it nearly enough. Essentially, Twitter is like an IM chat client - you provide 140 character updates of which your contacts can get on their phone or on a Twitter widget or just whenever they’d like. It’s pretty cool…

Well, lo and behold - someone on Twitter made an unofficial TriMet account of all of the service alerts. Very nice!

Edited to add - added a nice little sidebar box with the three most recent TriMet alerts taken from that Twitter account on the right hand side of the site.

Southeast Johnson Creek Blvd bridge closed 8pm to 6am during the week of April 7

Just saw this TriMet service alert:

”Night work is scheduled for the SE Johnson Creek Blvd bridge the week of April 7, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.”

Eastside security tightened on both TriMet MAX and bus service

April 1 marked the date that six transit officers started patrolling the Eastside MAX & bus TriMet service.  Wish these were officers who could also be checking fares, but you can’t have the best of both worlds.  Though, six officers?  Not too shabby…

Trimet plans on increasing to 10 officers by the first of July.

More about this service alert can be seen on the TriMet website.
