Reason 2: taking dog in bag on bus gal

Why do I continue to manage and run TriMetiquette? It’s because of weird instances of breaking the rules like the taking her dog in a bag on the bus gal. I’m a fairly soft-spoken guy; I’m not one to be the center of attention nor do I typically speak up in rule-breaking instances such as this. But TriMetiquette is here to softly reinforce riding rules as well as post about public transportation riding etiquette.

Because if TriMetiquette isn’t posting about riding etiquette… who will?

Reason 1: Fare Inspector checking-his-phone guy

Why does TriMetiquette keep on rolling?  Because of instances like fare inspectors checking their cell phones instead of checking fares! We all know that look: the “*whistle* Just checking my phone, trying to look preoccupied…” Wait – none of you know that look…?

In any case, TriMetiquette was created for those looking for an outlet to let out any frustrating moments, any events that may have made you slightly peeved on the MAX, bus, streetcar or WES or otherwise and share your story.  More often than not, I’ll post the story and try to get some commentary going.

Going to be gone the next two weeks on a honeymoon

Just wanted to let everyone know that I’m going to be gone the next two weeks.  I’m getting married on Sunday, July 13 and will be taking a honeymoon in Maui from then until July 28.  While I’m gone, I have some posts scheduled up to showcase some of the images that are in the TriMetiquette Flickr photostream.

I appreciate everyone’s patience while I’m gone.  Thanks, and see you in two weeks!

Reason 3: all of us riders

Why does TriMetiquette have green signals all the way? Because riding public transportation shouldn’t be an exercise in frustration; it should be a pleasant ride.

Having been riding Portland public transportation all my life, I see instances where other rides such as myself ride with nice public transportation etiquette: we take the inside seat, leave the outside seat open, we don’t sprawl our feet across other seats, we know that moving to the center of the MAX train helps more people get on, etc.

This blog is proudly powered by all of you, all of the public transportation riders here in Portland who do the right thing.

TriMetiquette is like Batman and all of you reading are like Robin: let’s protect the city from evil public transportation riders who complicate our riding experience by sharing stories, telling it like it is, going over some nice riding etiquette, etc.

Graphic designers wanted! Need new TriMetiquette logo

That’s right!  TriMetiquette is looking for any graphic designer or artsy-fartsy individual who wants to try to tackle a new TriMetiquette logo.  To put it simply, I was contacted by TriMet and was asked to not use their logo.  And seeing as how I’m Photoshop-impaired (though, I will say I am awesome at making obviously photoshopped-looking images), I’m asking for help.

So!  I’m looking for a new logo.  Really, no real requirements except for it can’t really exceed 50 pixels heigh.  Wide-wise, it can be a wide one (maybe 400 – 500 pixels?).  I’m open for anything!

If you’d like to help me out, please contact me at trimetiquette@gmail.com.  Appreciate the help!
