WES (Westside Express Service) Preview Ride

How cool!  I received an invitation (thanks TriMet!) to RSVP for a WES Preview Ride.  So it looks like I’ll be riding the WES later this week.  I’ll try to get some pictures (or even some video?) and a nice comprehensive post on how the experience went probably this coming weekend.

Anyone have any specifics they want me to pay attention to?

Christmas Day TriMet Schedule

Want to wish you all a very merry Christmas.  For those that need to use TriMet to get out and about this Christmas day, here’s the latest info on service:

  • MAX Blue Line: Blue Line trains are running every 15 minutes along the entire alignment from Hatfield Government Station to Cleveland Ave Station.
  • MAX Red Line: Red Line trains are running between Gateway Transit Center and the airport. To get to the airport, you can catch any Blue Line train and transfer to the Red Line at Gateway. Traveling from the airport, transfer to a Blue Line train at Gateway.
  • MAX Yellow Line: Yellow Line trains are not running at this time, but shuttle buses are serving all stations on the Yellow Line between Rose Quarter and the Expo Center every 15 minutes. Riders traveling to the Yellow Line can board any Blue Line train and transfer to a shuttle bus at Rose Quarter.
  • Buses: Bus service is limited due to weather conditions. Some lines have been canceled and others are running on snow routes, but buses are arriving every 15 minutes on most lines. Check the Service Alerts page for details about your bus line, or view a map of today’s service.
  • LIFT is providing only life-sustaining trips only.

TransitTracker may not be able to predict arrival times. However, for some bus lines, it will report how far away your bus is.

New Site Relaunch

Pardon the dust!  You are now viewing the new TriMetiquette website.  This has actually been an ongoing project for a couple months and I’m glad to have everything up and running (and running relatively smoothly I may add!).

While the major update really revolves around the design and organization of information, the other major addition is adding advertisement opportunities to the site. Really, I would love to spend all of my time running TriMetiquette, writing posts, receiving and posting personal stories about TriMet riding experiences and the like, but I have a full-time job.  I do spend countless hours each week participating in TriMet and Portland public transportation discussions and posting here whenever possible, but alas, I don’t have all the time in the world.

The advertising options that I’ve added are unobtrusive and do not detract from the experience you’ll have on this site. It’s actually a wonderful opportunity for any local business who might be located on a bus line or MAX line to advertise their business and the ease of being able to get their on public transportation. If interested, I encourage you to contact me regarding advertising opportunities – it’s cheap and gets your business or event in front of public transportation geeks (like me!).

Please feel free to comment on this post with any feedback or other site enhancement requests you may have.  Thanks for sticking with me and reading TriMetiquette!

TriMetiquette – TriMet Riding Etiquette – Launches New Website

Portland, Oregon, December 10, 2008 – TriMetiquette – a Portland Public Transportation news blog covering topics about TriMet riding etiquette – has relaunched their website. The new website features tips on public transportation riding etiquette as well as personal stories about riding public transportation.

“The first six months writing for TriMetiquette has been very fun and rewarding,” Christian Bullock, Managing Editor of TriMetiquette stated. “We wanted to enhance the site user experience by having information be displayed in a more readable manner and making the overall website more effective.” The TriMetiquette website launched on April 3rd and has seen tremendous visitor growth since launch, now averaging over 150 views per day. “The steady trend of visitor growth is encouraging and I can predict numbers will only go up as more people start riding public transportation,” Bullock added.

The new TriMetiquette website also offers several new attractive advertisement spots for Portland local or national companies to advertise. These advertising opportunities range from simple 100 x 100 images to sponsored blog posts. “As much as I would like to spend every waking moment on TriMetiquette,” Bullock said, “it is not my full-time job. But adding the ability to advertise on the site gives me a way to potentially earn some revenue for fare as well as giving the opportunity for local companies and particularily companies on bus or MAX lines to advertise on a site that’s primarily targeted for public transportation riders.”

For additional information on TriMetiquette’s new website launch or advertising opportunities, contact Christian Bullock at TriMetiquette@gmail.com or visit www.trimetiquette.com. TriMetiquette.com is not sponsored, approved or endorsed by Trimet.org or the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District.

About TriMetiquette – TriMetiquette is a TriMet and Portland public transportation news blog covering topics from public transit riding etiquette to personal stories concerning public transportation.

TriMetiquette forum – discuss Portland public transportation issues

Announcing a new & exciting feature for TriMetiquette – a new forum feature! You can access TriMetiquette’s forum on the top navigation.

I’ve created three different sub-forums: MAX discussion, Bus discussion & General Portland public transportation. If you want to talk about the Steel Bridge closure, go to the MAX discussion and talk about your experiences there. Need to know how to get from point A to point B using the bus? Post it in the bus discussion board and see if you get a response. Or if you just want to talk about the overall Portland public transportation scene or anything non-specific, post in the general board.

I know it might take a bit of time for users to start using it, but I really do think having an open community where we can all talk and share our experiences will be positively awesome.

What are you waiting for? Get to the forum, register, and start posting!
