The idea of a blog that shares TriMet stories as well as “TriMetiquette” has been brewing in my mind for years now. I remember the first day I rode MAX – my family and I were going to a Trailblazers game. We thought we’d save a few bucks and take the MAX at Lloyd Center. I remember it being so packed that we could barely get on… and when we did, much to the chagrin of others that were previously on, lots of obscenities were being thrown around, people were yelling & screaming, and I felt genuinely uncomfortable.
Fast forward how many years from then. I now take MAX & the bus on a regular basis to and from work as well as weekend events downtown. And, honestly, much hasn’t changed – you still see bums sleeping, taking up three seats… people sitting and putting their feet on adjacent seats, young people sitting down while elderly or disabled individuals stand right next to them… these kinds of things have been going on for years.
This blog – TriMetiquette – will be addressing the everyday happenings on the MAX and bus. There will be TriMetiquette posts addressing ‘proper etiquette’ that should be followed on all TriMet services. There will be service alerts for any bus routes or MAX lines. And there will be personal stories from readers who wish to share their story, whether it be good or bad. All of this content will be up for anyone’s comments or thoughts.
Need to give a shout-out to Julian @ PDX Pipeline who first gave me the gentle nudge to start writing about TriMetiquette in the first place. He’s a good main… and a decent domino player.
So I’m pleased to announce the launch of TriMetiquette. Hope to hear from you all. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh hell to the ya. I also am a power user; trains, buses, tram, everyday I go to and from work. I look forward to this. I smell viral marketing, lets get some little flyers or something we can pass out or post on on near trimet vehicles? Or is that way illegal? Anyway, count me in.
No idea, but hey, I like the idea… and if you want to contribute at all friend, by all means… give me an email.
Great blog idea! And some great content already (4/8). It’s refreshing too to see I’m not the only transit nerd out there.
